Search Engine Optimization & Social Media Tags

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Social Media Tags increase traffic to your web pages by helping you rank higher on search engines and gain traction on social media.

Optimizing your site for search engines is one of the most important tools to increase traffic. By specifying the right SEO metrics, like the meta title and meta description, you make it easier for search engines to index and rank you, bringing more and more new visitors across your brand.

Enabling Search Engine Optimization & Social Media Tags

Step 1: Create a landing page in your MailMunch app.

Step 2: Navigate to the Information step, and expand the SEO and Media Tags menu.

Add SEO to your landing pages by switching the toggle to blue. You will now be able to access and customize the settings of SEO and Media Tags.

Search Engine Optimization

Let’s explore the SEO parameters you can set with MailMunch:

  • Meta Title

Meta Title (or SEO title) is your web page title as it appears on search engines. Online businesses optimize the Meta Title for their focus keyword to help landing pages rank on search engines. In case no Meta Title is added, or if SEO configuration is not enabled, your Landing Page Title is designated as the default page title for searches. This title can be set from the Page Name tab at the Information step.

  • Meta Description

Meta Description is the description of your web page that appears in the search results. It is designed to be a summary of what the page is about. This, too, is optimized for the focus keyword for it to appear in search queries. As your page appears higher in organic results, more people click through to it and you gain more traffic. With a recommended length of 160 characters, it allows you space that a page title simply can't. If no Meta Description is added, the search engine will provide in its place a portion of the content that it deems relevant to the query.

Social Media Tags

With social media platforms becoming major sources of traffic for web pages, customizing your Landing Page's social media preview has become vital. Being able to control the way your Landing Page appears to social media users can be a game-changer for your online portfolio. It allows you to capitalize on rapidly evolving online cultures and tailor your first impressions specifically for the exponentially growing social media user base. Instead of letting social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp decide how your page is perceived, now you can control how these settings are configured.

Let's discuss the settings of Social Media Tags offered by MailMunch:

  • Meta Title:

Meta Title appears as the title in the post preview on social media platforms. With the option to customize this, you have the freedom to fine-tune your promotional efforts towards better achieving your marketing goals.

If no Meta Title is chosen, your landing page’s title is displayed as the title to social media users.

Meta Description

Meta Description is the description of your website when shared on social media platforms. It provides a summary of your web page to social media users so they know what to expect from the landing page. Tailored for social media, it is generally shorter than SEO Meta description with a recommended length of 100 characters. In case you don’t provide one, social media platforms may choose a piece of your content to appear as the description.

  • Featured Image

Replace your default preview with a well-placed Featured Image. This can be the difference between a cursory glance at your Landing Page’s social media preview or a very high click-through to your landing page. It supplements Meta Title and Meta Description, providing more detail while appealing to the aesthetic sensibilities of the user.

If there is no Featured Image, a preview of your web page will be displayed to the user.

Unlike SEO settings, Social Media Tags allow more versatility and responsiveness. Changes made to Social Media Tags actualize and display in real-time, allowing you to stay relevant while adjusting rapidly to social media trends.

Manage how your web page appears to social media audience: a before and after comparison.

  • This is how your page appears before enabling MailMunch Social Media Tags. Notice the indecipherable preview of your page as the thumbnail, the lack of a standardized description, and the monotony among the page title, description, and image as well.

  • By enabling Social Media Tags and providing customized parameters, you can make your thumbnail simple, yet catchy. Your page title can be tailored to the needs of your social media audiences. The standardized description provides ample insight into what the content is about.
